NCHPEG is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in Maryland. NCHPEG programs and initiatives are made possible with funding from government agencies, private foundations, and membership dues. NCHPEG has a continuing grant for genetics resources for health professionals from National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the Office of Rare Diseases, both branches of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This funding supports the development and maintenance of this website.
The Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences, with support from NHGRI, at the NIH funded NCHPEG to create an educational program for social and behavioral science researchers to facilitate the inclusion of genetics into research. NCHPEG partners with Genetic Alliance on a five-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to develop Access to Credible Genetics Resources. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) provides support for a collaborative agreement between HRSA, NCHPEG, March of Dimes, Genetic Alliance, and Harvard Partners for the Family History for Prenatal Providers project.
Previous NCHPEG programs have been funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Department of Energy.
