2009: Genetics Education for Health Professionals: What Are the Key Messages? How Do We Deliver Them? (12th Annual Meeting)

 

NCHPEG focused on the content and delivery of genetic education at its 12th annual meeting in Bethesda, Maryland from September 23rd through 24th. More than 160 attendees with representation from more than 30 NCHPEG member organizations participated in discussions on diverse topics relevant to the education of health professionals in genetics, and the educational challenges that arise with advances in genetic and genomic technologies.

NCHPEG's 11th Annual Meeting focused on the public health and education needs in the context of genetics and complex disease.  Presentations included topics on Genome-wide Association Studies, Type II Diabetes, Infectious disease, and psychiatric disease.

2007: Pharmacogenomics (10th Annual Meeting)

2006: Risk Assessment and Communication of Risk (9th Annual Meeting)

 

The topic of the 9th Annual Meeting, risk assessment and communication of risk, built upon the core principles of family health history assessment, interpretation, and intervention.  Attendees explored how risk information is communicated to patients, and how providers can help ensure that each person understand that risk information.
