Project:
Time Management for College Students
ILT Competencies Demonstrated in Time Management Project
Reflective Practice
Take a systems view
- I took into account the context under which the learning would be executed. I understood the systemic approach of the ADDIE model to provide a framework for development and delivery of the product.
- I was aware of values and barriers of the learner.
Use cycles of reasoning as tools for problem solving
I used the Morrison, Kemp and Ross instructional design model to provide cycles of reasoning for problem solving.
Promote collaboration, partnerships, and relationships for full inclusion.
I utilized questionnaires provided by stakeholders, interviewed the instructor and consulted with teammates.
Be a lifelong learner and professional
I utilized my newfound skills with Dreamweaver, CSS and Coursebuilder and the knowledge gained from IT 5110 to design and implement the site.
Planning and Analysis
Conduct a needs assessment
My needs assessment was driven by instructor and stakeholder input.
Conduct a learning or performance instructional analysis:
I performed a learner, contextual and task analysis, and developed learning objectives.
Design and Development
Apply various theories/strategies and current research, and consider local needs and constraints to design activities and experiences for learning (with documentation)
- I tried to utilized problem based learning by guiding the learner to develop strategies that are directly applicable to their actual situation.
- In addition, because the learning a occurs as a function of the activity, context and culture in which it occurs and because of the social interaction between the learner and the trainer, this learning experience could be categorized as Situated Learning (Lave and Wegner).
- The instruction was behavioral based, as I am trying to change time usage behaviors.
- I used aesthetics to guide form and structure by providing unity, continuity and multiple visual clues to enhance learning and navigation.
Develop products and resources to support learning and performance (with documentation)
- I developed this product through the use of stakeholder input, a felt needs questionnaire, a task analysis, a learner analysis, and a contextual analysis.
- I then developed specific and measurable objective and sound instructional strategies based on an expanded performance-content matrix.
- Finally, I developed assessment strategies and an evaluation plan.
Management
Employing effective strategies (e.g., team leadership, collaboration, accountability), manage one or more of the following endeavors:
- I managed all aspects of this instructional design project.
- I managed the development of the technology.
- I managed the information resources (i.e. instructors, stakeholders, books instruction was to be based on.
Overview: The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs requires students on academic probation to take a class entitled Academic Fitness to improve their academic and personal skills. One component of that course is a module on time manangement. This module was developed to be delivered online with follow up coaching from graduate students in the Counseling program.
The Learning Goal: At the completion of this course experience, the student will be able to apply academic and personal success strategies to concurrent and future coursework.
